CEO Neoceptual, Muhammad Irfan selected to represent Bahrain in a Global Sustainability Leadership training in United States on 17 August 2024.
Muhammad Irfan made history as the first individual to represent Bahrain at the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership in the USA. He earned this prestigious opportunity by competing against representatives from 137 countries, with only participants from 18 countries ultimately selected for the Sustainability Leadership Training, sponsored by United People Global, Geneva, Switzerland.
UPG is a non-profit organization registered as a foundation in Geneva, Switzerland that currently runs the world’s largest training on Sustainability in support of making the world a better place and directly supporting the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
UPG Sustainability Leadership programme is an initiative that mobilises individuals and organisations to support positive citizen leadership on sustainability. Since 2019, 2,742 young leaders from over 137 countries have been trained as UPG Sustainability Leaders, in turn, training over 86,000+ citizens (and counting) in their respective communities and implementing development initiatives they committed to as part of their training requirements.
The training they undergo is designed to provide them with unparalleled exposure and additional capacity building in a manner that could change the course of their lives and strengthen them in their work to make the world more sustainable. Over 13,000 individuals apply annually for the chance to have this opportunity and for the young leaders who are selected, the importance of the opportunity cannot be overstated.
Every year, 60 of these UPG Sustainability Leaders undertake the #UPGSustainability Pilgrimage to Hurricane Island, designed as a complimentary experience to help reinforce what the leaders have learned through the main program.
This journey to Hurricane Island is a testament to the passion for sustainability and leadership that exists within the people of Bahrain. This landmark achievement not only brings pride to the nation but also paves the way for residents and citizens of Kingdom of Bahrain to step onto the global stage and make a meaningful impact.
